Return To Learn

During the 2020-21 school year, Moorhead Area Public Schools is using its Return to Learn plan to guide a safe learning environment for all students and staff.

Though the school year started in a hybrid learning model, we will pivot to the different models below as needed during the school year The Incident Command Team meets regularly to monitor county case counts, trends, community factors and the state's guidance. See below for a visual infographic that explains the data points examined.

We will continue to work with our local and state public health agencies and the Minnesota Department of Education throughout the school year to determine the most appropriate model for staff and student health and safety, while providing our students with high quality education.

The Incident Command Team meets regularly to monitor county case counts, trends, community factors and the state's guidance. The infographic below visualizes this process. You will also find relevant data in the graph and table below that helps guide this decision-making process.

Learning Model Descision

The table below outlines the multiple data points reviewed at each Incident Command Team meeting. In order to get a holistic view of COVID spread in our community, clay and cass county 14-day case rates are reviewed. Within the school district, the number of positive cases among staff and students, as well as the number of staff and students quarantined are taken into account.

*There are approximately 8,500 preK-12 students and 1,200 staff.
