Early Intervention Services offers a trans disciplinary approach to serve all children within the program, meaning your primary team members will be able to address the needs of your whole child.

Children birth to age three are served under PART C state laws. PART C refers to services as a prevention model, which helps children who are at risk to better their chances for discontinuing special education services at or before the age of three.

Children who are age three to kindergarten age are served under PART B state services, which are based on an intervention model rather than a prevention model. At this point, children would need to qualify in at least one of the following categories:

  • Developmental Delay
  • Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Physical Impaired
  • Other Health Impaired
  • Vision Impaired

Children are served in their most natural setting. Children age birth to three typically are served within their home or childcare setting. If children, age three to kindergarten, are already in a preschool or childcare setting, services are likely to be provided there. If not, other options include classroom settings offered by collaborations with Jump Start Preschools, HeadStart and other preschools or a classroom designed by EIS staff.

Early Intervention Services is a program of Moorhead Area Public Schools and staff members are professionals licensed in various disciplines:
