Thirteenth candidate files for Moorhead School Board seat

Lisa Hage was the thirteenth candidate to file for a one-year seat on the Moorhead School Board, joining Kara Gloe, David Marquardt, Keith Vogt, David J. Hallman, Tanya Kunza, Angie Dannewitz-Johnson, David Thingvold, Elijah J. Dee, Sr., Ruel C. Johnson, Amy Arel, Lisa Holter and Brian Mancini. Filing closes at 5 p.m. Aug. 15. In the Nov. 7 special election, one resident will be elected to a one-year term to fulfill an unexpired board term.

District and early learning program both receive recommendations for accreditation

After interviewing 207 stakeholders and visiting 48 classrooms, the six-member AdvancED external review team provided Moorhead Area Public Schools with a recommendation for accreditation at the end of the three-day review on Nov. 2. In partnership with families and the community, Early Intervention Services (EIS), which is located at Probstfield Center for Education, provides special education services at no cost to children in the Moorhead Area Public Schools ages birth to age of school entry. Licensed teachers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists respond to referrals to EIS with support to answer questions parents have about their child's development. EIS provides developmental assessments as needed and offers services upon meeting Minnesota special education entrance requirements. Professionals strive to provide services in settings with other children of similar ages.
