The Information Systems and Instructional Support Department, which includes the Moorhead School District's technology program, administers the district's telecommunications and network computer systems. The technology program strives to address the program needs of students, the information delivery needs of teachers and administration, the data delivery requirements of government services, and the communication needs of district staff, parents and community stakeholders.
The district's progressive infrastructure provides Internet and email access in every classroom. On average there is a ratio of two students to one networked device with more than 3,600 school-owned tablets, laptops and desktop computers for students to use. The district also supports a teacher-led “bring your own device” (BYOD) approach to incorporate additional technology into the classrooms.
The IS&IS Department is responsible for purchasing hardware and software to meet the district's technology needs. The department also ensures the district's compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), which was enacted by Congress to address concerns about children's access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet.
The Information Systems and Instructional Support Department provides or facilitates training opportunities for employees. By providing training on the district's standardized software, the IS&IS Department ensures that district employees are learning effective uses of technology for both inside and outside of the classroom.
Moorhead Area Public Schools uses Google Apps for Education to provide students and staff access to email, calendars, Google Docs, Google Drive and more. Haiku, which can be accessed by parents through their PowerSchool parent account, is a learning management system where teachers post resources such as assignments for classes.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool, the district's student management system, provides current information about students' attendance, transportation routes, meal menus, lunch account transactions and balance, prior report cards or progress reports, announcements, and teacher and school contact information. Grade, class schedule and locker information is available for middle and high school students.
Additionally, parents/guardians may update their settings for the district's automated notification system to choose how they receive weather-related and other automated notifications.
Parents/guardians only need one PowerSchool account for all of their students.
PowerSchool Registration
Moorhead Area Public Schools uses PowerSchool Registration, the district's online student registration system for secure and efficient registration. PowerSchool Registration allows parents/guardians to enter registration information for their students — including emergency contacts, transportation, health, athletics and activities — annually in one online form. Once a student’s registration information is complete, parents/guardians only need to review and update information annually through PowerSchool Registration.
Parents access PowerSchool Registration through their PowerSchool parent account. Computer access and assistance is available at the school if needed. Translation service is available by appointment.
If you have a question on how to complete a PowerSchool Registration form, contact your school’s main office. If you are having technical difficulties, contact the support line at 866-434-6276. Moorhead Area Public Schools does not provide technical support for PowerSchool Registration.
