Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools has been closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 following the guidance of our local health department and the Minnesota Department of Health. As always, our primary concern is for the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.

Communications

Thank you for your support in keeping our schools safe and healthy places for children to learn, staff to work, and parents and community members to visit. We will continue to watch the developments surrounding COVID-19 closely and will take the appropriate steps necessary to protect the health of all of our students, staff and school community.

Student Support

  • We remain sensitive to implicit biases that may be associated with the virus. All members of our school community have the right to be safe, valued, and respected.
  • We know that student’s emotions feed off the emotions of the adults in their lives so our calm and confident responses to COVID-19 prevention are important.

Prevention

  • According to public health officials, COVID-19 is spread like the flu and common colds.
    • Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues, or cough/sneeze into the inner elbow.
    • Practice good hand washing with soap and water as often as possible; if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in classrooms or offices. (The District's custodial staff does this nightly.)
    • Staff and students should stay home when they are sick.
  • Public health officials will guide any potential school closing due to illness. We will alert students, staff, and parents if we receive direction related to COVID-19.
