Panel provides updates on capital projects at intergovernmental retreat

January 27, 2016

Brandon Lunak, assistant superintendent of finance and operations for Moorhead Area Public Schools, participated with the Brian Berg, county administrator for Clay County, and Bob Zimmerman, city engineer for City of Moorhead, in a panel discussion about upcoming capital projects during the 47th Annual Clay County Joint Powers Intergovernmental Retreat on Jan. 22.

Lunak shared information and plans for the school district’s construction projects, including building a new K-4 elementary school and a grades 5-6 school attached to Horizon Middle School and renovating and adding security enhancements at existing schools. Berg shared information about county projects, including the new highway shop, transfer station, and the jail. Zimmerman highlighted several Moorhead projects, including road construction projects planned for this summer.

The one-day retreat, with the theme of working together to build a strong, growing and safe county, also included information from the Metro Street Crimes Task Force and Minnesota State Demographic Center, which are topics of importance to the municipalities, school districts, and other governmental agencies in Clay County. The intergovernmental retreat concluded with a legislative forum.
