District taking applications through Feb. 12 for elementary, middle school and alternative programs task forces

February 1, 2016

Moorhead Area Public Schools is continuing the implementation process for the Facilities Master Plan, which calls for a number of task forces to review recommendations made by the Facilities Master Planning Task Force.

Applications are now being taken for the Elementary School Research Task Force, Middle School Research Task Force and Alternative Programs Research Task Force. The middle school task force will begin meeting Feb. 11. Meetings for the elementary and alternative programs task forces have not been set.

Applications are being accepted online through Friday, Feb. 12, from community members interested in serving on those task forces. The task forces will include representation from stakeholder groups in the community. Applications may be submitted at http://goo.gl/forms/mCYuQl5dek or contact the Superintendent’s Office at 218-284-3330 for a paper copy of the application.

Applications for other task forces (high school, elementary attendance areas, school naming) will be taken this spring. The Early Childhood Research Task Force and Technology Integration Task Force have been meeting already.

Last year Moorhead Area Public Schools worked with Cuningham Group in preparing a comprehensive facility master plan to guide facilities planning and improvements for the next 10 years. A facilities steering committee led the effort and a larger Facilities Master Planning Task Force incorporated community members in the planning process. More information about the facilities master planning process and the Facilities Master Plan are available at www.moorheadschools.org/facilities.

This work led to the Nov. 3 bond referendum, which was approved by voters and will provide a new K-4 elementary school, a grades 5-6 school attached to Horizon Middle School, and renovations and security upgrades at other district schools.
