Horizon Honor Choir selected to perform at MMEA state conference

February 4, 2016

The Horizon Middle School Honor Choir, under the direction of Ashley Scherbenske, will perform at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, February 11 at the Minnesota Music Educators Association’s state conference in Minneapolis. Each year the conference showcases top-quality programs and musical ensembles from throughout Minnesota.

Band, choir and orchestra ensembles from across Minnesota apply each year to perform at this event. Typically one choir from each grade level (elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate/community) is selected to present a concert during the conference. The Horizon Honor Choir submitted recordings last spring and was selected this past summer.

“It’s such a great honor as we are the only middle school choir that was selected to perform at this conference,” Scherbenske said. “I am excited for the students. They have been working really hard, and are so very deserving of this honor.”
