18th annual United Way school supply drive underway
July 26, 2016
The 18th annual United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive is underway and donations will be accepted through July 29. United Way will distribute supplies on Aug. 6 and 9.
Last year, 5,260 local students in grades K-12 were equipped with backpacks and sets of school supplies. This year’s goal is to distribute more than 5,000 backpacks packed with supplies needed for the school year.
United Way of Cass-Clay will distribute supplies from 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 and from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the FARGODOME. Families in need of school supplies may come to one of the distribution events to receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. Backpacks and supplies are available to students attending K-12 schools in Cass and Clay counties.
Students and families needing supplies must have a form of ID for each child and a completed registration form, which is available online at http://www.unitedwaycassclay.org. Registration forms also will be available on site the day of distribution. Backpacks are distributed on a first come first served basis.
To help our community achieve this goal, donations can be dropped off at the following sites: Family Wellness, West Acres, Moorhead Center Mall, Gate City Bank (all locations), First International Bank and Trust, and United Way of Cass-Clay.
All types of school supplies are needed. The supplies most needed are new backpacks, pencil pouches, 1" 3-ring binders, dry erase markers, glue sticks, Sharpies, composition notebooks and red pens. Other supplies being collected include colored pencils, crayons, erasers, pens, two-pocket folders, loose leaf paper and notebooks.
Monetary donations can be mailed to UWCC, PO Box 1609, Fargo, ND 58107 or dropped off at United Way of Cass-Clay at 219 7th St. S., Fargo.
