Moorhead Area Education Foundation sponsors phonathon

February 21, 2014

The Moorhead Area Education Foundation will sponsor the 23rd annual MAEF Phonathon from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, February 24 and 25, 2014, in the New Commons area of Moorhead High School.

Last year, more 75 Moorhead High School students gathered 585 pledges totaling $20,381. This year, students have a goal of raising $25,000, all of which will be used for scholarships in 2014.

The Phonathon is the major fundraiser for the Moorhead Area Education Foundation. Other funds come from businesses, service clubs, and individual contributions, plus interest from the MAEF Endowment Fund. The funds raised in 2013 allowed MAEF to award $100,245 to 73 graduates. Since the first scholarships were given in 1991, a total of $1,228,295 has been awarded to 1,462 graduates of Moorhead High School.

The mission of the Moorhead Area Education Foundation is to raise money and receive gifts of money or property to enhance educational programs for students in Independent School District 152. The Foundation provides scholarships for post-secondary education and grants for innovative education enhancement projects in classrooms district-wide.

For more information visit the Moorhead Area Education Foundation section of the district’s website at https://www.moorheadschools.org/maef or email MAEF@moorheadschools.org.
