Ellen Hopkins Elementary celebrates cultures with We Are Hopkins event

October 11, 2016

Students, families and staff of Ellen Hopkins Elementary School learned about the different backgrounds of members of the Hopkins community in late September as part of the school’s second annual We Are Hopkins Night on Sept. 29. Additionally, a variety of speakers made classroom presentations throughout the week.

“The goal of the event is to shine a spotlight on the many cultures and backgrounds that make up the Hopkins community,” said Ryan LaDage, Hopkins principal. “We have so much variety in our world, and so much right here under our roof, that we want to celebrate that diversity.”

Activities at We Are Hopkins Night included presentations or displays about several cultures, reading to therapy dogs, creating bookmarks, and marking a world map to show where students were born.
