Learn about Moorhead Area Public Schools during State of the District session

October 21, 2016

Community members were involved in the school district’s Community Engagement Initiative and in the facilities master planning process. Superintendent Lynne Kovash and district leadership team members will discuss the progress on the district’s strategic priorities and plans to move the district forward during the State of the District on Oct. 27. Key topics of the presentation will be World’s Best Workforce and the district’s upcoming operating levy renewal. The session will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in Probstfield Center for Education Board Room, 2410 14th St. S., Moorhead.

The State of the District is free and open to the public. Preregistration is requested. For more information and to register, contact Moorhead Community Education at 218-284-3400 or register online at https://communityed.moorheadschools.org (class is listed under General Interest).

Moorhead School District voters will vote Nov. 8, 2016, on an operating levy renewal that will provide $223.66 per pupil in voter-approved funding each year for the next 10 years beginning with the 2018-19 school year.

Revenue from renewal of the operating levy would address five priority areas identified by the School Board.

  • Support learning and operate our new and existing schools for our growing student enrollment.
  • Maintain average class sizes.
  • Provide a source of stable and predictable revenue to avoid reductions.
  • Maintain and replace technology equipment.
  • Maintain access to education programs including world languages and early childhood.

The operating levy renewal is to maintain current operating levy funds to support learning for the growing student enrollment. The average home in the district will see zero tax impact with renewal of the operating levy. Agricultural property is exempt except for the value of the house, garage and surrounding one acre.
