Moorhead School Board names new assistant superintendent

April 15, 2014

At the School Board meeting April 14, the School Board voted on the recommendation of the administration to hire Brandon Lunak as the new assistant superintendent effective July 1, 2014.

Lunak has served as superintendent of the Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Public Schools since 2011, and he is serving as the Minnesota chairperson for the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools (NAFIS). Previously he was the superintendent/elementary principal in the Emerado Public School District in Emerado, N.D., for six years, and he taught physical education and health for Climax-Shelly School District in Climax, Minn.

He has experience with overseeing budgets, leading building improvement projects, coordinating federal programs and strategic planning.

“His skill in the strategic planning of the district’s operation and his management of these operations will be an asset to our district,” said Superintendent Lynne Kovash.

Lunak earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and his K-12 principal and superintendent’s license from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Lunak will replace Jeremy Larson, who has been serving as interim assistant superintendent since January 2014.
