Top spellers compete in District Spelling Bee

February 13, 2017

Eighteen of the school district’s top spellers in grades 6-8 competed in the Moorhead District Spelling Bee on Jan. 13 at Horizon Middle School. Avery Hagen correctly spelled “indecisively” to place first. Tim Foster took second, and Ian Creech was third. Hagen and Foster advanced to the Region Spelling Bee in Fergus Falls on Feb. 7.

After taking a classroom test, the top students had competed in the written Grade Level Spelling Bees earlier in January. The top spellers in the Grade Level Spelling Bees advanced to the district bee. Winner of the Grade 6 Spelling Bee was Aiden Williams. William Hallman was first in the Grade 7 Spelling Bee, and Kale Erickson won the Grade 8 Spelling Bee.
