Moorhead High boys hockey team playing in state tournament

Moorhead High’s boys hockey team, coached by Jon Ammerman, defeated Roseau 6-0 in the Class 2A Section 8 championship on March 1, giving the Spuds their first trip to the state tournament since 2013. 

The Moorhead Spuds will play Hill-Murray at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9 in the opening round of the boys hockey state tournament at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. They will play again Friday based on results of the game.
 
Tickets for Thursday’s game will be on sale Tuesday, March 7 in the Moorhead High New Commons beginning at 3:30 p.m. for students (maximum of one ticket per student) and 4:30 p.m. for adults (maximum of four tickets per person). Tickets are $11 for students and $17 for adults. The fan bus costs $20 per rider and will depart at 8 a.m. March 9. Sign up in the Activities Office by noon Wednesday, March 8.
 
March 9 Update:  The Moorhead Spuds advance to the boys hockey state tournament semifinals with a 4-2 win over Hill-Murray. The Spuds will play Lakeville South at 6 p.m. March 10 at the X. Semifinal tickets will go on sale for Moorhead fans at noon Friday in the River Center Lobby of the Xcel Center.
 
March 10 Update:  The Spuds will play Grand Rapids in the Class AA boys hockey championship game on March 11 after a 3-2 win over Lakeville South on March 10. Championship game tickets will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. March 11 at the River Center Lobby of the Xcel Center.
