Moorhead High wrestlers place first and fourth at state
March 6, 2017
Moorhead High senior Sam Grove wrestles a Barnesville opponent during a recent wrestling meet at Moorhead High School. Grove, who is rated No. 1 at 195 pounds in Class 3A, competed in his fourth state tournament March 3-4 and won the championship.
This season Grove broke the Moorhead High School records in wins and pins previously held by Chase Morlock. Morlock was the Moorhead wrestler who won Moorhead’s last state title in 2012.
Three other Spuds wrestled at this year’s state tournament. They are seniors Jack Lien and Payton Horsted and sophomore Riley Schock, who placed fourth in his 170 pound weight division.
