We Are Proud: Letters About Literature State Finalists

April 24, 2017

We Are Proud of Horizon Middle School students who were selected as state finalists in the Letters About Literature competition sponsored by the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and Minnesota Council of Teachers of English. Students are Carter Brooks, Caitlin Carlson, Samantha Elliott, Emily Hall, Evan Hanson, Ethan Lien, Raegan Malmlov, Stella Mehlhoff, Macalister Nelson and Madisyn Robinson. Dan Dooher is their Horizon Middle School language arts teacher. Out of 339 submissions in the middle school level, 63 entries were selected as state-level finalists. Sponsored nationally by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, the contest asks readers to write a letter to an author describing how his or her work touched their life in a personal way.
