September 18, 2017
Moorhead Area Public Schools is taking applications for its Citizen Finance Advisory Committee, an advisory committee that focuses on school district financial issues. Prospective committee members should have a general understanding or background in financial matters and budgeting.
The committee includes district administrators, staff members, parents and other community members. Members’ terms are for two years. The committee meets approximately quarterly.
The membership application form is available on the district’s website at https://www.moorheadschools.org/documents/download/?id=331840. Completed applications should be submitted to the assistant superintendent’s office by 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.
The advisory committee reviews long-range school district financial planning and provides input on specific financial issues, appoints subcommittees to study specific issues as needed, reviews and comments regarding underlying assumptions and trends that support long-range financial projections, and reviews and comments on financial policy, the annual tax levy, the annual budget report and the annual audit report. Committee members will serve as key communicators for the school district regarding financial issues, both sharing information with the public and listening to the concerns of citizens.
