Girls swimming and diving places fourth at sections, advances two to state

The Moorhead High girls swimming and diving team had its best finish in 20 years, placing fourth as a team at the Section 8AA swim meet held in Elk River on Nov. 10-11. The team broke or tied five school records at the section tournament.

Andrea Lee and Katelin Winter qualified for the Class AA state tournament Nov. 16-18 at the University of Minnesota.

Winter placed first in 200 individual medley setting a new school record with her time of 2:09.34. She placed third in 100 butterfly setting a new school record with her time of 58.27.

Lee placed first in 500 freestyle and set a new school record with her time of 5:15.24. She placed second in 200 freestyle.

Sophie Sather placed fifth in 100 breaststroke setting a new school record with her time of 1:09.55.

The 400 freestyle relay team placed fourth and tied a school record with a time of 3:43:91. The 200 freestyle team placed fifth.
