Moorhead’s Haiby breaks scoring record in girls basketball victory

December 13, 2017

Moorhead High senior guard Sam Haiby drives to the basket during the Nov. 28 girls basketball game against Brainerd.

Haiby, who became Moorhead High School’s all-time leading scorer in basketball on Nov. 25, was presented with an autographed basketball before the game by previous record holder Aaron Lien. Haiby broke Lien’s record of 1,886 points.

During the game against Brainerd, Haiby broke another school record by scoring 45 points in a single game, leading the Spuds to a 76-66 victory over the Warriors.

The girls basketball team is playing three away games before returning home to play St. Michael-Albertville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 21 at Moorhead High.
