Moorhead High girls basketball loses close game

December 26, 2017

Moorhead High’s Jalen Ennen goes up for two points as the No. 8 ranked Moorhead Spuds took on the No. 7 ranked Knights of St. Michael-Albertville in a close girls basketball game Dec. 21. The lead changed several times during the first half with the score tied 33-33 at halftime. In the second half, the Knights took a small lead and held it until the end as the Spuds and Knights exchanged baskets. The Spuds battled hard and refused to allow the Knights to build any substantial leads. As the second 3-point attempt in the last 20 seconds bounced off the rim, the Spuds ran out of time, losing 61-64.

Moorhead’s record falls to 7-2. The Spuds were led by Sam Haiby’s 35 points, 10 rebounds and fives assists, while Rylie Polomny added nine points, and Samantha Zimmerman came off the bench to add seven points.

The Spuds host a Dec. 28-29 basketball tournament at Moorhead High. Check www.moorheadschools.orgfor game times.
