School Board begins superintendent search process

The Moorhead School Board held its first work session with Minnesota School Boards Association consultants on Jan. 8, beginning the search for a new superintendent for Moorhead Area Public Schools.
Board members reviewed superintendent search-related training and planned the search timeline. They had first discussion of position hiring criteria, stakeholder involvement, initial salary discussion, position advertising, and search procedures.
The board will approve the hiring criteria and vacancy brochure in January, and they will develop interview questions and procedures in February.
Stakeholders will be given an opportunity to complete an online survey, and MSBA will hold staff and community listening sessions and interviews.
The application deadline is March 9, 2018, with finalists to be selected for first round interviews by approximately March 19. First and second round interviews will be conducted at the end of March with the goal of hiring a superintendent by early April. The new superintendent would begin July 1, 2018.
