Moorhead High boys hockey wins Hockey Day Minnesota game in overtime
January 29, 2018
Moorhead High’s Kyler Kleven scores on a rebound from Jack Stetz during the Jan. 20 Hockey Day Minnesota game at Lake George in St. Cloud. The Spuds played Centennial and pulled out a 3-2 win in overtime with 29 seconds remaining.
Kleven and Cole O’Connell each scored a goal in regular play, and Carter Randklev came through in OT for the win. The Spuds hammered Centennial with 38 shots on goal, and goalie Lance Leonard had 20 saves for Moorhead.
Randklev, who was interviewed on Fox Sports, said, “It was unbelievable. I mean, me and my buddies always talk about this being our second greatest memory right after the Tourney, and for us to do this together and come out with the W, it’s good for our community as well.”
The Moorhead High boys hockey team plays St. Cloud Tech at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Sports Center.
