Moorhead School Board selects new superintendent

March 28, 2018

The Moorhead School Board has voted to select Brandon Lunak as the school district’s new superintendent.

“We believe Mr. Lunak has the experience and leadership skills to move our school district forward. We look forward to working with Brandon in his new role,” said Scott Steffes, School Board Chair.

The School Board will be conducting contract negotiations with Lunak, and a contract is expected to be reviewed by the School Board at the April 9 school board meeting and recommended for approval on April 23.

Lunak was named interim superintendent of Moorhead Area Public Schools in December 2017. He has been assistant superintendent of finance and operations for Moorhead Area Public Schools since July 2014. Prior to that Lunak was superintendent of the Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Public Schools. He has served as a superintendent/elementary principal and a teacher. Lunak earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and his K-12 principal and superintendent’s license from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in educational leadership from MSUM.
