Horizon West teams place fourth and sixth in regional math tournament

Several Horizon Middle School West Campus students received individual awards, and Moorhead teams placed fourth and sixth in the Grade 5 Regional Math Masters Tournament held in Moorhead on April 20. Thirty-two teams from the area participated in both individual and team rounds.
 
Individual awards went to Isaac Leiseth, second place; Eleanor Culloton, 18th place; Oscar Peterson, 20th place; and Lucy Noonan, 24th place.
 
The Horizon West Orange Team placed fourth out of 32 teams in the Regional Math Masters Tournament. Team members are Isaac Leiseth, Lucy Noonan, Eleanor Culloton, Charlie Stenehjem and Will Borud.
 
The Horizon West White Team placed sixth out of 32 teams in the Math Masters Tournament. Team members are Kinzie Paulson, Kendra Machart, Ella Watzke, Jackson Percy and Oscar Peterson.
 
Leigh Dornfeld is the Math Masters coach.
 
Math Masters of Minnesota is a statewide competition that challenges students to use higher-order thinking skills and problem-solving abilities in mathematics and recognizes academic effort and achievement.
