October 9, 2018

Moorhead High’s Madeline Etter dribbles the ball during the girls soccer game Oct. 4. The Spuds took on East Grand Forks in a chilly and windy afternoon home game. The Green Wave fell to the Spuds who scored two unanswered goals in the second half to win 2-0.

Etter and Olivia Watson each scored a goal for the Spuds. Maria Zanotti assisted on both goals. Goalie Emily Soukup earned the shutout with four saves.

The girls soccer team played its final home game Oct. 6, winning 3-0 over Detroit Lakes. Kylie Englund scored two of the three goals against Detroit Lakes, and Watson scored the other. Watson added two assists, and Tyra Djaerf added one assist in the shutout win over the Lakers. Soukup had one save.

The 13-3 Spuds begin girls soccer section tournament action at 5 p.m. Oct. 11 against Elk River at Moorhead High School’s Jim Gotta Stadium.
