Moorhead Schools Legacy Foundation sponsors successful second gala

October 26, 2018

For a second year in a row, the past, present and future combined to make Moorhead Schools Legacy Foundation’s SpudTacular Gala a success. Attendees had a glimpse of the past of Moorhead Area Public Schools, heard messages from present Moorhead Schools Legacy Foundation board members, and listened to music from future leaders.

The Sept. 29 sold-out event featured Kevin Wallevand as master of ceremonies. Brian Cole shared some history of Moorhead Area Public Schools. Foundation board member Rob Bye shared comments, and gala goers enjoyed featured performances from the cast of “Newsies,” Moorhead High School’s 2018 fall musical, and selections from Moorhead High School’s Apollo Strings.

Attendees had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for items, including a Carson Wentz autographed framed print, a fire pit made by Moorhead High industrial technology students, and custom “SpudTacular” themed items, followed by dinner and dancing to Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome.

Proceeds from the gala will go to support the foundation’s Food for Thought program, which provides snack and milk break for K-4 students in need.

The gala was made possible by gold sponsors Muscatell Automotive Group, Gehrtz Construction, Zerr Berg Architects, and other sponsors including Fargo Linoleum, American Crystal Sugar, Heyer Engineering, Sanford Health, Sundog/Brent and Jodell Teiken, BlackRidge BANK, Scheel’s, Bremer Bank/Bremer Insurance, Eide Bailly LLP, Bell Bank, Glacier Snow, Dakota Medical Foundation, Brenda and Corey Elmer, Bert’s Truck Equipment, Remax Realty, FM Truck Sales, Moorhead Public Service, Vogel Law Firm and more.

Moorhead Schools Legacy Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization focused on funding the needs of current and future students in Moorhead Area Public Schools and creating an endowment to support the schools in the future. Learn more at www.moorheadlegacy.org.
