We Are Proud: Moorhead High Speech Team - State Speech Championship and Medalists

We Are Proud of the Moorhead High School speech team for being named the Section 8AA champions for the 25th consecutive year and advancing 21 entries to the 2019 state speech tournament on April 13. State qualifiers were Regan Hart, Riley Stallman, Lily Kjos, Beth Teiken, Dylan Stage, Meghan Johnson, Greta Almlie, Sophia Klindt, Cassidy Wendt, Jonah Hanson, Katherine Leiseth, Emma Pranger, Neva Miller, Molly Hauf, Anika Drees, Anna Larson, Margaret Dickey, Zoe Stein, Thalia Christenson, Mya Pfiefer, Stella Mehlhoff, Alex Seigel and Alyssa Haagenson. Head coach of the Moorhead speech team is Rebecca Meyer-Larson.
At the state tournament, the Spuds earned 12 medals, including two gold medals, and won a fourth consecutive MSHSL Class AA State speech championship. The following students were medalists at state: Anna Larson placed first in informative; Neva Miller placed first in great speeches; Alyssa Haagenson placed second in storytelling; Margaret Dickey placed second in oratory; Stella Mehlhoff placed second in prose; Regan Hart placed third in creative; Molly Hauf placed third in great speeches; Sophia Klindt and Greta Almlie placed third in duo; Dylan Stage placed fourth in drama; Katherine Leiseth placed sixth in extemporaneous reading; Thalia Christenson placed sixth in poetry; and Cassidy Wendt and Jonah Hanson placed eighth in duo.
