Back-to-school events are planned for Moorhead schools

Back-to-school events for preschool, elementary and secondary students and their families are scheduled for Moorhead Area Public Schools. 

K-12 New Student Registration
Kindergarten students who are not yet registered and students in grades 1-12 who are new to Moorhead Area Public Schools should register as soon as possible at https://www.moorheadschools.org/enroll. Students enrolling in a Minnesota public school must provide birth certificate or passport, proof of district residency (lease, mortgage statement, or utility bill), immunizations records, and home language survey. Documents may be brought to the enrollment office at Probstfield Center for Education, 2410 14th St. S., Moorhead or email enroll@moorheadschools.org with questions.

Back-to-School Events
The district’s Jump Start Preschools will hold back-to-school night from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29.

Grades K-4 students at Dorothy Dodds, Ellen Hopkins, Robert Asp and S.G. Reinertsen Elementary Schools are being invited to back-to-school sessions the afternoon of Aug. 29, or grades K-4 students and their parents/guardians may attend the regular back-to-school night from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. Parents may check their PowerSchool parent account for their assigned session.

If parents/guardians need assistance with a PowerSchool parent account, they should contact their school office or they can request an account be created for them online at https://pschool.moorheadschools.org.

Grades 5-6 students at Horizon Middle School West Campus have been invited to back-to-school sessions the afternoon of Aug. 29, or grades 5-6 students and their parents/guardians may attend the back-to-school night as follows:

  • Grade 5 and Spanish Immersion: Thursday, Aug. 29 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Grade 6: Thursday, Aug. 29 from 7-8:30 p.m.

Parents may check their PowerSchool parent account for their assigned session. School pictures will be taken during the Aug. 29 events.

Horizon Middle School East Campus is holding an orientation day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 where students will have their school pictures taken and complete any registration steps. Students new to the district may tour the school.

Horizon East will hold its back-to-school nights as follows:
  • Grade 7: Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Grade 8: Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 5-6:30 p.m.

At Moorhead High, the first of the Grade 9 orientation sessions with school pictures were held Aug. 19. An additional session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22. School pictures for grades 10-11 are Thursday, Aug. 22 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and 5-6 p.m.

At Red River Area Learning Center, open registration required for all Red River ALC students will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 20 or 21 or by appointment at Vista Center for Education.
