Learn about Moorhead Area Public Schools during State of the District session

October 17, 2019

Over the past few years community members have been involved on several task forces to review high school instructional and facilities needs for Moorhead Area Public Schools. Brandon Lunak, superintendent, and Tamara Uselman, assistant superintendent of learning and accountability, will discuss the progress on these efforts and the rest of the district’s strategic priorities to move the district forward during the State of the District on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Key topics of the State of the District presentation will be World’s Best Workforce and the district’s upcoming bond referendum. The session will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 in the Probstfield Center for Education Board Room, 2410 14th St. S., Moorhead.

The State of the District is free and open to the public. Preregistration is requested. For more information and to pre-register, contact Moorhead Community Education at 218-284-3400 or register online at https://communityed.moorheadschools.org (class is listed under General Interest).

Moorhead School District voters will vote Nov. 5, 2019, on a $110 million bond that, if approved, would provide for growth and learning by:

  • Renovating the former Sam’s Club building as a career academy for 300-700 students to provide all secondary students with opportunities to explore multiple career pathways
  • Rebuilding Moorhead High School for 2,200-2,400 students on the existing site.

The proposed construction projects are designed to add needed space to address the district’s growing secondary student population. The owner of a home valued at $200,000 would see a tax impact of less than $8 per month with voter approval of the bond.
