Parents/guardians asked to share input on climate in district’s schools
November 7, 2019
Moorhead Area Public Schools will give the Comprehensive School Climate Inventory, a nationally-recognized school survey, in November to students in grades 3-12, with corresponding surveys for all parents and school staff. The survey is anonymous and provides each school or program with valuable information about how students, staff and parents view the school climate.
According to the National School Climate Center, school climate refers to the quality and character of school life. School climate is based on experiences that students, parents and school staff have at school, and it reflects goals, values, interpersonal relationships, teaching and learning practices, and organizational structures. The way students feel about being in school shapes their learning and development.
Parents will complete the survey using the specific link for their student’s school, which will be shared through email and the school announcement e-newsletter. Parents with students at more than one school in the district are asked to complete the survey for all schools their children attend. The anonymous survey will take 15-20 minutes to complete. Results will be shared with each school community and used to help guide school and district leadership teams as part of strategic planning.
