Skaters perform at hockey game

December 6, 2019

Moorhead’s Kennadi Berg performs during a period break of the boys hockey game on Nov. 26 at the Moorhead Sports Center. Berg is a student at Horizon West and a member of the Moorhead skating program, which is a part of the Red River Valley Figure Skating Club.

Ice skaters practice at the Moorhead Sports Center weekday mornings from 5-7 a.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays during the winter months. In the spring and fall they skate in the evenings, and in the summer they practice skating during the day.

Skaters practice for competitions throughout the year. They perform for judges, demonstrating their skills, and they skate to pass U.S. figure skating tests in hopes of achieving the gold level in different disciplines. Most of these skaters will perform in the Moorhead Ice Show, which is usually scheduled for March.
