Important Summer Contact Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools operates with limited staff during the summer months. The following information is provided to make it easier for the public to contact the district.

If you need further assistance regarding the following programs:  

  • Robert Asp Main Office is closed between June 22 and July 12. You may leave a message for Robert Asp office staff at 284-6300 that will be returned after this date.
  • For Robert Asp EXCEL Jump Start Extended Learning Year, please call Becky Wolford at 284-6364. Jump Start Elementary will be from 8-11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday from July 23-Aug. 10 at Robert Asp Elementary School.
  • For Elementary Special Education Extended School Year, please call Ashley Nelson at 284-3887 or Winifred Evensen at 284-3711. ESY is from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 19-28, July 10-19, July 31-Aug. 9 at S.G. Reinertsen Elementary.
  • For ESY bus transportation questions, please call Mike Steffen or Ruth Smith at 284-1400.
  • UPDATED: The 2018-19 grades K-4 school supply list is available here.
  • Pay for school activity and supply fees online through PayForIt.
  • Grades K-12 student schedules and teacher assignments will be available to view online through PowerSchool at 8 a.m. Aug. 22.
  • Elementary back-to-school sessions will be the afternoon of Aug. 30. Families and students will be assigned to a session, which will be posted in PowerSchool on Aug. 22. During this time, students and families can meet the teacher and tour the school. Back-to-School night will be Aug. 30 from 5:30-7 p.m. Families only need to attend one event so if you can make the assigned afternoon event, you do not need to attend in the evening. If the time you are assigned does not work for you, you can call the office to reschedule.
  • As part of the summer food service program, free meals for all children will be served at Arrowhead Park, Queens Park and Moorhead High School. See the Moorhead Schools summer meals schedule. Meals may be purchased at Horizon Middle School using student meal accounts.

If you need immediate assistance or assistance with other inquires please call Probstfield Center for Education at 218-284-3300. The district office is open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 8. From June 11 through Aug. 10, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-11 a.m. Friday. Regular hours resume Aug. 13.

Project-based learning: Horizon East students write original picture books to share with elementary students

Groups of Moorhead elementary students listened closely as eighth-graders from Horizon Middle School East Campus read their original picture books and led the younger students in short lessons. Project-based learning gave Horizon East students in the co-taught social studies and language arts classes instruction to address state standards, besides incorporating technology and the 4Cs.
