Important Summer Contact Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools operates with limited staff during the summer months. The following information is provided to make it easier for the public to contact the district.

If you need further assistance regarding the following programs:

  • S.G. Reinertsen Main Office is closed between June 15 and July 8. You may leave a message for Reinertsen office staff at 284-5300 that will be returned after this date.
  • For EXCEL Jump Start Extended Learning Year, please contact Peggy Simonson at psimonson@moorheadschools.org. Jump Start Elementary will be from 8-11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday from July 22-Aug. 9 at S.G. Reinertsen Elementary.
  • For Elementary Special Education Extended School Year, please call Ashley Nelson at 284-3831 or Winifred Evensen at 284-3711. ESY is from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 18-27, July 9-18, July 30-Aug. 8 at Ellen Hopkins Elementary.
  • For ESY bus transportation questions, please call Mike Steffen or Ruth Smith at 284-1400.
  • The 2019-20 grades K-4 school supply list is available here.
  • Pay for school activity and supply fees online through PayForIt.
  • Grades K-12 student schedules and teacher assignments will be available to view online through PowerSchool by late August.
  • Elementary back-to-school sessions will be the afternoon of August 29. Families and students will be assigned to a session, which will be posted in PowerSchool approximately a week prior. During this time, students and families can meet the teacher and tour the school. Back-to-School night will be August 29 from 5:30-7 p.m. Families only need to attend one event so if you can make the assigned afternoon event, you do not need to attend in the evening. If the time you are assigned does not work for you, you can call the office to reschedule.
  • As part of the summer food service program through Moorhead Schools, free meals for all children will be served at Northeast Park, Arrowhead Park, Bennett Park, Belsley Park, Queens Park, Romkey Park and Moorhead High School. Additionally, the YMCA is offering the summer food program at Ellen Hopkins and Robert Asp Elementary Schools. See the complete summer meals schedule.
If you need immediate assistance or assistance with other inquires please call Probstfield Center for Education at 218-284-3300. The district office is open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 7. From June 10 through Aug. 9, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-11 a.m. Friday. Regular hours resume Aug. 12.

Moorhead School Board approves budget for 2019-20

During the June 10 meeting, the Moorhead School Board approved the district’s annual operating plan, which includes the preliminary budget for the 2019-20 school year. District revenues will increase primarily because of an increase to the general education aid formula and an estimated increase in enrollment, and expenditures will increase because of construction costs for the operations center and increased staff. Retirees remember decades of service to the district

With a combined 527 years of service to the district, retiring employees — including two long-time administrators — have spent decades focused on serving learners of all ages in Moorhead Area Public Schools. Operations Center renovation begins with bids $2 million under estimates

The renovation and expansion to create a district operations center for Moorhead Area Public Schools began in earnest this month with demolition of a portion of the existing facility last week. Welcome to S.G. Reinertsen Elementary School! At Reinertsen Elementary, we ensure learning by using a results-oriented curriculum and instruction, by creating a culture of respect, acceptance and support for students in partnership with parents, and by establishing a professional learning community for staff that includes common goals and collaborative teams. Reinertsen Elementary in south Moorhead has an enrollment of 750 students in grades K-4. Read more
