Important Summer Contact Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools operates with limited staff during the summer months. The following information is provided to make it easier for the public to contact the district.

If you need further assistance regarding the following programs:

  • Moorhead High School Main Office will be open with limited staff during the summer. From June 10 through Aug. 9, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-11 a.m. Friday. You may leave a message for Moorhead High office staff at 284-2300. Regular hours resume Aug. 12.
  • The Moorhead High School Counseling Office will be open limited hours during the summer. The counseling staff is not available. You may leave a message at 218-284-2400 in the Registrar/Counseling Office for new student registration or other needs. All counseling staff will return Aug. 12.
  • New student registration for 2019-20 should be completed using the online new student registration form. New students will be contacted about meeting with a counselor in August to select their classes. 
  • For the Moorhead High School Activities Office, please call DeAnn Smith at 218-284-2345. From June 10 through Aug. 9, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-11 a.m. Friday.
  • Registration for activities is done by using PowerSchool Registration online, which will be available for completion beginning approximately late July. Please register for any activity you think your student may participate in. A medical professional physical must be on file to participate in sports. Physical forms can be picked up in the Activities Office or printed from www.mshsl.org.
  • For Moorhead High School EXCEL Summer School, please call coordinator Maret Kashmark at 284-2316 during summer program hours. EXCEL Summer Program is from 8 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday from June 11-27 and July 8-25.
  • Independent study is from 12:30-3:30 p.m. June 11-27 and July 8-25 at Moorhead High. The Monday Independent Study Program is Monday, June 17-Monday, Aug. 19 from 3-8 p.m. at Vista Center for Education, 2777 34th St. S.
  • For Moorhead High School Special Education Extended School Year, please call Brandon Yoney at 284-7128 or Winifred Evensen at 284-3711. ESY is from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 18-27, July 9-18, July 30-Aug. 8.
  • For ESY bus transportation questions, please call Mike Steffen or Ruth Smith at 284-1400.
  • Grade 9 orientation and school pictures are Monday, Aug. 19 with sessions beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. or Thursday, Aug. 22 with a session at 5:30 p.m. You do not need to register for a session; just choose the session to attend and arrive on time. Sessions will last 45-90 minutes depending on size of group. Important Moorhead High School information for students and parents will be provided, school pictures will be taken, student schedules will be handed out, and lockers assigned. School tours and club/activity information will be available (time permitting).
  • The 2019-20 school supply list is available here.
  • Pay for school activity and supply fees online through e~Funds for Schools.
  • As part of the summer food service program through Moorhead Schools, free meals for all children will be served at Northeast Park, Arrowhead Park, Bennett Park, Belsley Park, Queens Park, Romkey Park and Moorhead High School. Additionally, the YMCA is offering the summer food program at Ellen Hopkins and Robert Asp Elementary Schools. See the complete summer meals schedule.
If you need immediate assistance or assistance with other inquires please call Probstfield Center for Education at 218-284-3300. The district office is open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 7. From June 10 through Aug. 9, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-11 a.m. Friday. Regular hours resume Aug. 12.

District residents to vote on proposal for growth and learning

At the Aug. 12 meeting, the Moorhead School Board moved forward with a construction plan for growth and learning by approving the ballot language for the district’s $110 million Nov. 5 bond referendum, which will provide students in grades 9-12 with safe, inviting and inclusive learning environments.

Moorhead school social worker helps kick off United Way’s 21st annual school supply drive

As a volunteer, Nadine Moon has helped with all aspects of the school supply drive. As a school social worker for Moorhead Area Public Schools, Moon picks up extra backpacks and distributes them to the Moorhead schools to have as families move into the district. Moon helped the United Way of Cass-Clay kick off this year’s 21st annual school supply drive July 9 at Scheels in Fargo. Moorhead School Board approves budget for 2019-20

During the June 10 meeting, the Moorhead School Board approved the district’s annual operating plan, which includes the preliminary budget for the 2019-20 school year. District revenues will increase primarily because of an increase to the general education aid formula and an estimated increase in enrollment, and expenditures will increase because of construction costs for the operations center and increased staff.
