Important Summer Contact Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools operates with limited staff during the summer months. The following information is provided to make it easier for the public to contact the district.

If you need further assistance regarding the following programs: 

  • Moorhead High School Main Office will be open with limited staff during the summer. From June 17 through July 29, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. You may leave a message for Moorhead High office staff at 284-2300.
  • The Moorhead High School Counseling Office will be open limited hours during the summer. The counseling staff is not available. You may leave a message at 218-284-2400 in the Registrar/Counseling Office for new student registration or other needs. All counseling staff will return Aug. 15.
  • New student registration will be Aug. 16-17 and 23-24 by appointment. Prior to Aug. 15, call 218-284-2400 to preregister.
  • Student schedules and teacher assignments will be available to view online through PowerSchool at 4:30 p.m. August 19.
  • The schedule change date for all grades is Aug. 25 from 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m.
  • The PSEO student schedule change date is Aug. 18 from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m.
  • For the Moorhead High School Activities Office, please call DeAnn Smith at 284-2345. From June 6 through Aug. 5, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday.
  • Registration for activities is done by using InfoSnap online registration. Please register for any activity you think your student may participate in. A medical professional physical must be on file to participate in sports. Physical forms can be picked up in the Horizon main office, or printed from the www.mshsl.org.
  • For Moorhead High School EXCEL Summer School, please call coordinator Scott Matheson at 284-2314. EXCEL Summer Program is from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday from June 14-30 and July 11-28.
  • For Moorhead High School Special Education Extended School Year, please call Brandon Yoney at 284-7128 or Winifred Evensen at 284-3711. ESY is from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 28-July 28.
  • For ESY bus transportation questions, please call Dan Bacon or Ruth Smith at 284-1410.
  • The 2016-17 school supply list is available here.
  • Grade 11 orientation is Aug. 15 with sessions in the auditorium at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Students and parents should choose one session. School pictures will be taken in the commons, schedules printed and important information for juniors will be communicated at each session. 
  • Grade 10 orientation is Aug. 18 with sessions at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Students and parents should choose one session. School pictures will be taken, schedules printed and important information for sophomores will be communicated at each session.
  • Grade 9 orientation is Aug. 22 with sessions in the auditorium scheduled as follows 8:30 a.m. for last names beginning with A-G, 10:30 a.m. for H-N, 1:30 p.m. for O-Z and 5:30 p.m. makeup session. Important Moorhead High School information for students and parents will be provided, school pictures will be taken in the commons, students schedules will be handed out and lockers assigned. School tours and club/activity information will be available (time permitting).
  • Pay for school activity and supply fees online through PayForIt.
  • As part of the summer food service program, free meals for all children will be served at Ellen Hopkins Elementary, Robert Asp Elementary, S.G. Reinertsen Elementary, Horizon Middle School, Moorhead High School, and four parks. See the complete schedule.
If you need immediate assistance or assistance with other inquires please call Probstfield Center for Education at 284-3350. The district office is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 3. From June 6 through Aug. 5, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. Regular hours resume Aug. 8.

School Boards approve boundary realignment plan

The School Boards for Moorhead Area Public Schools 152 and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Public Schools 2164 approved the plan to adjust the school district boundaries at their meetings June 27. The approval comes after opportunities were provided for public testimony on the plan at both the June 13 and 27 board meetings. Read More »
