Important Summer Contact Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools operates with limited staff during the summer months. The following information is provided to make it easier for the public to contact the district.

If you need further assistance regarding the following programs: 

  • Horizon Middle School East Campus Main Office is closed between June 17 and August 1. You may leave a message for Horizon office staff at 284-7300.
  • For Horizon East Summer Academy, Josh Carlson at 284-7312. Horizon Summer Academy is from 8 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday from June 12-28 and July 9-18. STEM Week is 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday from July 9-19.
  • For Horizon Middle School Special Education Extended School Year, please call Ashley Nelson at 284-3887 or Winifred Evensen at 284-3711. ESY is from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 19-28, July 10-19, July 31-Aug. 9 at Horizon East.
  • For ESY bus transportation questions, please call Mike Steffen or Ruth Smith at 284-1400.
  • The 2018-19 grades 5-8 school supply list is available here.
  • Pay for school activity and supply fees online through PayForIt.
  • Registration for grades 7-8 sports is done by using PowerSchool Registration online, which will be available for completion beginning approximately late July. Please register for any sport you think your student may participate in. A medical professional physical must be on file to participate. Physical forms can be picked up in the Horizon main office, or printed from the www.mshsl.org.
  • Grades K-12 student schedules and teacher assignments will be available to view online through PowerSchool at 8 a.m. Aug. 22.
  • As part of the summer food service program, free meals for all children will be served at Arrowhead Park, Queens Park and Moorhead High School. See the Moorhead Schools summer meals schedule. Meals may be purchased at Horizon Middle School using student meal accounts.
If you need immediate assistance or assistance with other inquires please call Probstfield Center for Education at 218-284-3300. The district office is open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 8. From June 11 through Aug. 10, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7-11 a.m. Friday. Regular hours resume Aug. 13.

Horizon East students gain technology experience working help desk

Several Horizon Middle School East Campus students had hands-on opportunities to learn about technology by being part of the new help desk. The Horizon East Student Help Desk began this year with the goal of providing students an opportunity to learn about solving basic technology issues while assisting with computer repairs that come with maintaining a one-to-one student-computing environment. Project-based learning: Horizon East students write original picture books to share with elementary students
