Important Summer Contact Information

Moorhead Area Public Schools operates with limited staff during the summer months. The following information is provided to make it easier for the public to contact the district.

If you need further assistance regarding the following programs:

  • Horizon Middle School West Campus is still under construction to open this fall. 
  • Horizon Middle School East Campus is closed between June 13 and July 29. You may leave a message for Horizon office staff at 284-7300.
  • For Horizon Middle School Summer Academy, please call coordinator Josh Carlson at 284-7300. Horizon Summer Academy is from 8 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday from June 13-29 and July 10-19. STEM Week is 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday from July 10-13 and July 17-20.
  • For Horizon Middle School Special Education Extended School Year, please call Brandon Yoney at 284-7128 or Winifred Evensen at 284-3711. ESY is from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 28-July 28.
  • For ESY bus transportation questions, please call Dan Bacon or Ruth Smith at 284-1410.
  • Middle school students in grades 6-8 who are new to the Moorhead School District may register for the 2016-17 school year from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Horizon Middle School counseling office. New sixth-grade students can register during registration hours. A group presentation and tour will be given at 12:15 and 5:15 p.m. New students entering grades 7 and 8 can register and receive a tour of the school any time during registration hours.
  • The 2017-18 grades 5-8 school supply list is available here.
  • Pay for school activity and supply fees online through PayForIt.
  • UPDATED: K-8 student schedules and teacher assignments will be available to view online through PowerSchool at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 25.
  • As part of the summer food service program, free meals for all children will be served at Ellen Hopkins Elementary, Robert Asp Elementary, S.G. Reinertsen Elementary, Horizon Middle School, Moorhead High School, and four parks. See the complete schedule.
  • Registration for grades 7-8 sports is done by using InfoSnap online registration. Please register for any sport you think your student may participate in. A medical professional physical must be on file to participate. Physical forms can be picked up in the Horizon main office or printed from
If you need immediate assistance or assistance with other inquires please call Probstfield Center for Education at 284-3350. The district office is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 3. From June 6 through Aug. 5, office hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. Regular hours resume Aug. 8.


Moorhead School Board approves budget for 2017-18

Durbin draws from history for his young adult novels

Horizon East to focus on meeting student needs
