Moorhead Area Public Schools announces administration assignments for two new schools

Moorhead Area Public Schools has named principals for the new grades 5-6 school connected to Horizon Middle School and the new K-4 elementary school to be built southeast of Horizon. Both schools are scheduled to open for the 2017-18 school year.

Carla Smith has been named the principal of the new grades 5-6 school on the Horizon campus, following School Board approval on Feb. 22. She will remain principal of S.G. Reinertsen Elementary until June 30, 2017. Smith has been principal at Reinertsen Elementary since July 2015, and she was assistant principal at Reinertsen Elementary for the 2014-15 school year. Prior to that Smith taught at Ellen Hopkins Elementary School and Horizon Middle School.

Robin Grooters has been named the principal for the new K-4 elementary school, following School Board approval on Feb. 22. Grooters will remain principal of Probstfield Elementary until June 30, 2017, a position she has held since July 2015. Prior to that she was director of early learning for three years, and she ​worked as the program manager for Early Intervention Services and a facilitator for special education.
