Moorhead teams advance to state Destination Imagination tournament in seven challenges

A Moorhead High team, a Horizon Middle School team, and three Moorhead elementary teams placed first or second in their respective challenges at the Destination Imagination regional tournament on March 25 to advance to state.

Teams advancing to the DI Minnesota Affiliate Tournament on April 22 in Champlin Park, Minn., are the Moorhead High team Snrocinu Wobniar in both the improv challenge (3-PEAT) and the Project Outreach challenge (Reading, Willing and Fable); the Horizon team Howling Owls in both the fine arts challenge (Vanished) and the improv challenge (3-PEAT); the S.G. Reinertsen Elementary team Pass the Gravy in the technical challenge (Show and Tech); the Reinertsen team Pink Legos in the scientific challenge (Top Secret), and the Reinertsen/Hopkins/Robert Asp team Fantasy Animals in the fine arts challenge (Vanished).

At the regional tournament, Moorhead had more than 150 students competing on 23 teams, including five teams that presented under the Rising Stars category. Moorhead’s Rising Stars for grades K-2 included four teams from Ellen Hopkins and one from Robert Asp.

Other teams that placed at the regional tournament are the Reinertsen team Flying Magical Narwhals, third place in the technical challenge (Show and Tech); the Hopkins team The Geodashers, third place in the scientific challenge (Top Secret); and the Hopkins team Unicorn Rainbow Ninjas, third place in the fine arts challenge (Vanished).
