Retired band director honored at Oct. 13 football game

October 17, 2017

Moorhead resident, graduate and retired band director Dewey Possehl was honored at Friday night’s football game at Jim Gotta Stadium last week.

Possehl graduated from Moorhead High School in 1947 where he played trumpet and was president of the band. Following high school, he served for two years in the U.S. Army. After earning his degree, Possehl spent the next 35 years teaching band at Moorhead South Junior High. Possehl has been part of the Clay County Historical Society and served on the Moorhead High School Hall of Honor committee.

On Oct. 13, Possehl brought the game ball out to the field to present to Coach Kevin Feeney before the game. He conducted the Moorhead High School pep band during its rendition of “The Star-Bangled Banner,” and he was honored by a flyby from a 1943 Northern American AT 6 following the national anthem.
