Moorhead High girls basketball season ends with section semifinal game

March 8, 2018

Moorhead High’s Megan Haugo drives to the net during the girls basketball Class 4A, Section 8 semifinal game against Maple Grove on March 3 in Alexandria.

Despite a strong defensive effort the Spuds couldn’t overcome a poor shooting night that seemed to touch every Spud player. An off night from the outside was compounded by the larger Crimson players’ inside presence, which disrupted the Spuds’ attempts to go to the basket.

With the 60-42 loss, the Spuds ended their season 18-10. The game was the final time record-setting senior Sam Haiby, who is heading to Nebraska next year, put on her Spud uniform.
