Horizon East students practice programming in STEM courses
July 13, 2018
Seventh-grade students at Horizon Middle School East Campus program their robots in a driving simulation during their Automation and Robotics exploratory class. In the responsible driving exercise, students needed to program their robot cars to simulate driving to the movie theater, parking, turning off the car and headlights, and returning home. Students documented their work in an e-portfolio.
All Horizon East students take two STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) exploratory classes to expose them to interactive, hands-on activities built around STEM concepts. The activities emphasize 21st century skills such as collaborative learning, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving, creativity and effective experimental design.
