Moorhead High girls basketball team wins close game over Monticello

Moorhead High’s Jalen Ennen goes up for two points in the girls basketball game against Monticello on Feb. 9 at Moorhead High. The Spuds had a good lead going into half time, but the Magic were able to whittle it down. Moorhead held on for the 71-69 win with five players scoring in double digits.

Ennen put up 14 points and had seven rebounds. Rylie Polomny led the Spuds with 20 points, five assists and four steals. Ayana Blythe scored 14 points, and both Sam Hulst and Sam Zimmerman contributed 11 points each.

The girls basketball team has three more games before tournament action starts Feb. 26. The Spuds play Alexandria at home at 4 p.m. Feb. 18. They travel to St. Cloud Tech on Feb. 19, and then return for their final home game at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 against Bemidji.
