The communications department works under the direction of the superintendent and is involved in community and public relations, internal communications and media relations. The district's communications coordinator works closely with administration and staff to inform employees and the public about what is happening in the district. The department publishes the district and special publications such as the district calendar and annual report, handles media requests, creates content and updates the district website and announcement e-newsletters, and maintains the district's social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.
Consistency in language, style and identity standards are vital to convey the district's mission. A strong visual identity projects a distinctive look and creates a lasting impression. Consistent use and application of the district's visual identity is critical to building and maintaining familiarity with Moorhead Area Public Schools. Moorhead Area Public Schools has licensed and is trademarking its district, M and Spud mascot logos. HMS Flagship Summer Theatre, in conjunction with Moorhead Community Education, is performing “High School Musical, Jr.” at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both June 27 and 28 at Moorhead High School, 2300 4th Ave. S. General admission tickets are available at the door for $10 for adults and $6 for children.

Groups of Moorhead elementary students listened closely as eighth-graders from Horizon Middle School East Campus read their original picture books and led the younger students in short lessons. Project-based learning gave Horizon East students in the co-taught social studies and language arts classes instruction to address state standards, besides incorporating technology and the 4Cs.

Moorhead Area Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program for 2018. Meals will be provided to all children in the Moorhead area, ages 1-18, free of charge. Children may eat at any site.

Moorhead High’s Claire Howell takes off after Olivia Watson hands off the baton in the girls track 4x400-meter relay at the 8AA Section Finals held June 2 at Moorhead High School’s Jim Gotta Stadium. Cassidy O’Meara and Alexandra Maddux were the other runners on the relay team, which placed second in the race and qualified for the state meet starting Friday, June 8 at Hamline University.
